Human Fighter EK

Description:
Bio:

Randal Evenwood

Randal was a young child when his parents were taken in the last great plague that hit the slums of Daerlun. About the age of seven. After a few years of living alone, Randal, was running with the local urchin gang. He made money stealing and strong arming other children. While he was stealing food, the guards man, took him to the Academy. Age 14.
“The Headmaster will not keep you out of trouble, but he will teach you to take care of yourself. Like he did with me. Don’t worry about the tuition, pay it back after you have graduated. Kind of like I’m doing now. Only requirement is that you don’t have parents to be accepted. I knew your parents, shame what happened. Sorry, I didn’t find you sooner, but I thought the plague had taken you also.”
The Headmaster is an Elf warrior of unknown age. He started the Academy in the slums of town, his graduates are sending back money to keep it going. The student don’t know why he is doing this in a human city, we are assuming some sort of penance. He turns away applicant who have a parent. He teaches common to the beginning classes. And Elvish, to the older students who want to learn it.
Some of the graduates have comeback as assistant instructors. They have been teaching the younger students, duty and responsibility for the Academy. The instructors and the students have been the local “law” in the block around the school. Pushing away the thieves’ guilds. As more students graduate, some have entered the local militia, like my sponsor. Most join caravans as guardsmen. The reputation is growing with the local merchant’s guild, that the graduates of the Academy are reliable fighters.
After graduation, the Headmaster gave me my starting gear and a letter of introduction to the caravan master. Age 17. The first job got me from Daerlun to Ordulin, I was supervised by a graduate of the Academy.
“As a Caravan guard, I look for this and that, to warn me about dangers.”
“Stand back, kid, I got this one.”
“ Your carrying too much gear kid, it’s slowing you down.”
So, the trip was more training.
In Ordulin, is where I hire on to the new caravan.
- I’m assuming the Headmaster is at least a level 5 fighter or higher.
- He’s been doing this for the last 150 years
- There are other Academy for Orphans, they have been founded in large cities with a supply of orphans to draw from. They have avoided capital cities to avoid the eyes of the governments.
- Since graduates are going into caravans, and Daerlun has relations with Cormyr. There are graduates climbing the social network in Cormyr.
